The Marylebone Association remains positive over the benefits to pedestrian safety and the improvements to the public realm which the Two-way Scheme offers. As before, our response addresses the scheme to the south of Marylebone Road, the area covered by the Marylebone Association’s planning remit.

The promised consultation on the amended Baker Street Two-Way Scheme has begun and runs until 20 March. The scheme now includes a number of the revisions requested by the Association. Details can be found and comments made at:- www.westminster.gov.uk/baker-street-two-way .

Westminster City Council has given presentations to stakeholder groups on further modifications to the Baker Street plans arising from the first round of consultations. When comments have been considered, there will be another full public consultation in the New Year.

Cycle Superhighway 11

Public consultation on Cycle Superhighway 11, running through Regent's Park into Portland Place, is due to begin shortly. As the current proposals include closing all three gates at the south end of the park to motor vehicles, we are concerned that traffic will be displaced into Marylebone, particularly into Baker Street and Gloucester Place as well as, ironically, the Devonshire Street/Paddington Street section of the proposed Cycle Quietway. Transport for London say they have carried out an assessment of the volume of traffic involved, but will not release the figures.
